History of Murphy's Beer

The origin of this beer dates back to 1856, when James J. Murphy founded the Murphy brewery in Cork (Ireland) with three other brothers. Lady's Well was one of the first beers to be brewed at that brewery, which inspired the current Murphy Iris Red, which was launched in 1995. After years as a mostly local beer, the brewery was acquired by Heineken. As growth has been strong worldwide, Murphy's is now available in 70 countries.
